One person died this morning in a semi-truck accident on the Western Slope.
A semi-truck hauling coal collided with a pickup truck carrying a drum of hydrochloric acid on Colorado 139 in Mesa County, said Trooper David Hall, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol.
The driver of the pickup survived the crash, but the driver of the semi was trapped in the wreckage of the truck, Hall said.
The stretch of highway, about 18 miles north of Loma, was closed because of the accident, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
More details will follow as they become available.
