A member of the North Metro Fire Rescue team has been honored for her work teaching safety to schoolkids.
Pam Kutchen, a life safety education officer, was named “2008 Educator of the Year” earlier this month by the Fire and Safety Educators of Colorado, North Metro said in a news release.
Kutchen works with the 22 elementary schools in district’s jurisdiction to teach safety classes involving fires, falls, bicycles and water. She also teaches about 911. In 2008, Kutchen documented 540 hours of public education and visited more than 8,500 kids, the release said..
She has been an educator for North Metro since 2005 and previously served as a secretary for the fire district for almost seven years.
