Ready or not, Morrison. Here come the Phish phans.
As previously reported in The Denver Post, Phish will play four nights at Morrison’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre this summer. The band announced the dates today: July 30-Aug. 2. Tickets will go on sale on March 26, according to a release from the band’s management.
The concerts are noteworthy for multiple reasons. The jam band has been inactive since August 2004, leaving its fans hungry for more live music. And long before the band called it a day, one of its multinight stands at Red Rocks in 1996 left thousands without tickets — and Morrison’s streets were overtaken by many of the fans, a situation that later got violent with the police.
It was long-rumored that the band (and its fans) were banned from Morrison, but the towns’s mayor, Allen Williams, recently told The Post he would welcome them all back with open arms.
In other rock news, Mötley Crüe announced the dates for Crüe Fest 2: The White Trash Circus, including an Aug. 4 date at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village. The tour will include opening acts Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and Charm City Devils.
“This is what we imagined when we came up with the idea of Crüe Fest last summer — putting together the most kick (butt) bands on one bill for a day of rock,” said the band’s Nikki Sixx in a release. “All of the bands on this tour compliment the others — musically, theatrically and passionately.”
Tickets, $10-$95, are available via Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Saturday. Six-packs on the lawn are available for $99, or $16.50 a ticket. And those buying single-lawn seats on Saturday only will pay $10 each.
