BOULDER — A University of Colorado student who allegedly broke his friend’s nose after the man asked to be hit in the face has been ticketed on suspicion of third-degree assault, according to police.

Andrew Duba, 19, a freshman film-studies major, was ticketed early Sunday morning.

CU police Cmdr. Tim McGraw said Duba’s friend, Dylan Krug, 18, a freshman management major, was out drinking at a party on University Hill that morning and asked several people to hit him.

No one took him up on the offer, McGraw said.

When Krug returned to his room at Farrand Hall about 2 a.m. to drink more beer, according to police, he repeatedly asked Duba — his neighbor down the hall — to hit him in the face.

“The neighbor tapped him on the face as a joke,” McGraw said.

But Krug insisted.

“(Krug) said, ‘I want to be punched’ — so (Duba) hit him with his left hand,” McGraw said.
