He’s on first

Denver adman Lew Cady prides himself on being first — so much so that’s he’s cataloged all the first things he’s done in his life.

So it was no surprise that Cady waited for the door of Katie Mullen’s Irish Restaurant & Pub in the downtown Denver Sheraton to open at 8 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day.

Cady’s goal? To be the first person to sip the first beer that the new pub served on St. Paddy’s.

“It was delicious, memorable, frothy, lovely and a fine way to celebrate 8 a.m.,” Cady said. “You know what they say: You can’t drink all day unless you start in the morning.”

Eavesdropping

A guy talking about his girlfriend at Tony’s Restaurant & Lounge in Fort Collins on St. Patrick’s Day: “She’s on so much medication that crying is just a side effect.”
