Two Denver beverage-makers have teamed up to create a special-edition brew. Great Divide Brewing Co. has joined with Pablo’s Coffee to create a seasonal beer. Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft until mid-April.
“Imperial stouts already tend to have undertones of coffee, so the infusion of espresso makes for a perfect complement to Oak Aged Yeti’s complex character,” said Brian Dunn, owner and founder of Great Divide.
Once the beer was ready for release, Dunn was looking for a local partner to provide the espresso. Pablo’s Coffee, at 630 E. Sixth Ave., roasts all of its beans on site. The company custom- roasted the espresso beans when they were needed to keep them fresh and also followed Great Divide specifications to combine with the beer.
“We have very similar business models — our companies are both committed to quality over quantity, and to serving our local communities in a way that large corporations are unable to do,” said Pablo’s founder Craig Conner. “Just as in the beer world, most of the best, most award-winning coffee comes from small roasters like us.” Elizabeth Aguilera, The Denver Post
