Three artists whose work is featured at Brushstrokes Gallery on Old South Gaylord Street — John K. Harrell, Kit Hevron Mahoney and Anita Mosher — did their part to advance the healing arts by making a generous offer to guests attending The Art of Nursing.

This cocktail party, show and sale that was a benefit for Touched by a Nurse, a fund at the University of Colorado College of Nursing that provides financial assistance to students completing their doctoral studies and for programs designed to overcome the nationwide shortage of nursing school faculty.

The artists agreed to donate 10 percent from each sale that night to Touched by a Nurse.

Angie Romani, president of the College of Nursing Advisory Board, and her husband, Tim, underwrote the benefit.

Board members Maribeth Hanzlik, Steve Edmonds, Janet Mordecai, Ann Moore, Jan Friedland, Carla Littlefield, Mary Osborn, Julia Secor, Patty Haas and Kathy Patrick were among the guests. So, too, were College of Nursing dean Patricia Moritz and her husband, Frank; Terry Biddinger, the college’s director of external affairs; former CU-Denver chancellor Jim Shore and his wife, Chris; and the chair of the CU School of Medicine’s department of psychiatry, Dr. Robert Freedman, and his wife, Sari.

Alto, Fruition, Dazzle, Pesce Fresco and Oceanaire are among the 20 restaurants taking part in Soup for the Soul, a soup-and-dessert tasting that begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sheraton Denver Hotel.
