HACKENSACK, N.J. — A former baggage screener at Newark Liberty International Airport confessed Thursday to stealing up to $400,000 worth of cameras, computers, cellphones and other gear from luggage and selling the items on eBay.

Pythias Brown, 47, of Maplewood, N.J., told U.S. District Judge Peter Sheridan that he pilfered the items between September 2007 and October 2008 while working for the Transportation Security Administration.
