COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs city workers discovered human remains, including an intact skull and numerous other bones, while cleaning out a sewer catch basin.
Police say the workers discovered the bones Wednesday.
Police Lt. David Whitlock says authorities are investigating the case as a suspicious death or homicide until more information is available.
Investigators expect to finish recovery of the remains Thursday night.
They say recovery was slowed as police detectives and investigators from the El Paso County coroner’s office sifted through debris to separate the tangled remains.
Police say the coroner will examine the remains after recovery, but the process could take several weeks.
