Wyoming’s Joe LeBlanc advanced undefeated through the first two rounds Thursday at the NCAA Division I wrestling championships in St. Louis.

LeBlanc, competing in the 184-pound division, earned a 12-7 decision over Jordan Blaton of Illinois in the first round. LeBlanc then beat David Craig of Lehigh 11-3 in the second round.

LeBlanc will wrestle in today’s quarterfinals against No. 1 seed Jake Herbert of Northwestern. Herbert, undefeated this season, was the NCAA champion in 2007.

AFA’s Lamoureux honored.

Air Force sophomore center Jacques Lamoureux, who leads collegiate hockey in scoring with 51 points and 31 goals, was tabbed the Atlantic Hockey Association player of the year after a vote of the league’s coaches.

Lamoureux is just the second Falcons hockey player to earn conference player of the year honors. Marc Kielkucki, an Air Force goaltender, earned the College Hockey America award in 2001.

Lamoureux was joined on the AHA first team by teammates Greg Flynn, who was voted best defenseman, and goaltender Andrew Volkening.

• Colorado College forward Chad Rau was named one of six players on the Western Collegiate Hockey Association first team in the league’s postseason honors, but Denver was shut out of top honors.

Birnie’s OT goal gives Eagles win.

Jay Birnie scored in overtime, lifting the Colorado Eagles to a 4-2 victory over the Rocky Mountain Rage at the Broomfield Event Center.

Ed McGrane assisted on the winning goal, extending his point streak to a CHL season-high 18 games.

The Eagles are just one victory away from winning the Governors’ Cup as regular-season champions.
