The Telluride ski area plans to add new attractions to lure visitors after the snow melts.
Chief executive Dave Riley said ideas include an alpine slide — a bobsled-like ride on a concrete run instead of ice; zip lines — a cable and pulley ride stretching from ski hill to ski hill; and expanded mountain-biking trails.
Riley said the resort needs to provide a range of recreation all year to help the Telluride economy.
A bill introduced by Colorado Democratic Sen. Mark Udall would make it easier for resorts such as Telluride to offer year- round attractions on land they lease from the U.S. Forest Service.
Environmental groups worry the bill might lead to disruptive water parks, golf courses and roller coasters. The Associated Press
