I knew after a second split shot slipped through my cold fingers and trickled off into the grass that I needed help. It came in the form of the Wright & McGill Qwik Drop Shot Dispenser, an ingenious little item that spits out weights one at a time in the palm of the hand.
The device comes in two models, each of which dispenses two sizes of shot ranging in size from 2.5 to 5mm in diameter. Each comes preloaded with nonlead shot; it may be attached to a vest with a zinger or tucked into a small pocket. Available at most tackle stores, it sells for $9.99.
