Authorities say Interstate 70 over Vail Pass has reopened, but drivers should still expect some delays.

The state Department of Transportation says a spring storm bringing snow to Colorado’s high country led to multiple accidents on the pass. The pass was shut down in both directions Monday afternoon but reopened at about 7:30 p.m.

Snow and gusting winds also prompted the closure of about 30 miles of Colorado 71 in the northeast corner of the state. It remained closed Monday evening.

Snow was falling across the north-central and southern mountains. But National Weather Service meteorologist Troy Lindquist says that overall, the storm has dumped less snow than expected.

Meteorologists expect another 3 to 6 inches in the mountains through the night with the snow tapering off Tuesday morning. Lindquist says accumulation will top out at about 10 inches in most places.
