The Aurora police department has once again received a prestigious honor from a national law enforcement agency.
The Commission on the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, or CALEA, accredited the department for the third time in nine years.
Assessors from CALEA spent three days inspecting the department for standards that represent the best practices in policing.
Seven police and three sheriff’s departments in the state and 3 percent nationwide are accredited by CALEA.
