BEIJING — A Chinese court agreed Wednesday to consider a lawsuit by parents of a sick child against a maker of chemically tainted dairy products that killed at least six children and sickened 300,000 more last year, Chinese state media reported.
The Xinhua District Court in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province in the north, accepted the lawsuit by a parent from Beijing on Wednesday, the official Xinhua news agency said.
It was the first time a Chinese court had accepted a lawsuit in the milk scandal.
