Foul play is suspected in the death of 14-year-old Ashley Patterson, whose body was found Sunday afternoon in a field near her home in Pueblo West.
“We are investigating it as a possible homicide,” Charlene Graham, chief of the law enforcement bureau in the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, told the Pueblo Chieftain on Sunday night.
The girl was found about 4 p.m. near Clarion Drive south of U.S. 50, the newspaper reported. Officials are not elaborating on the suspected cause of death. Pueblo County coroner James Kramer said Sunday night that there was no obvious cause of death, and that the cause would be determined by a autopsy today.
Ashley was reported missing about 3 p.m.
