FIRESTONE — Police say a man suspected of killing his ex-wife and her male friend was upset over their divorce in September.
Authorities told the Longmont Times-Call on Monday that they don’t know whether 47-year-old Michael Acker intended to kill the pair when he went to his ex-wife’s home early Saturday.
Neighbors reported gunshots at 5:30 a.m. Officers found the bodies of Acker, Sharla Pierce and her friend, Michael Federico.
Firestone Police Chief David Montgomery says Acker picked up his and Pierce’s two children from the Firestone home the night before. Montgomery said the 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy were found unharmed at Acker’s Commerce City home and did not know what had happened.
