One man was killed and another seriously injured after a suspected drunken driver slammed into a milk truck early today in Boulder.

Killed was the driver of a passenger van, which was headed north on 28th Street when it hit the milk truck turning from Jay Road, according to Sarah Huntley, spokeswoman for the Boulder Police Department.

The driver, who is suspected of being drunk, was pinned behind the wheel and rescued by firefighters. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later. He was identified as Gerardo Ochoa-Lopez.

Huntley said that a passenger in the van was hospitalized with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the milk truck was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Milk crates and cartons were strewn around, and the intersection was closed for three hours to remove debris and to allow investigators to complete their work.

Huntley said that the weather was not a factor in the crash.
