We may still be shoveling snow from sidewalks, but across the country, grounds crews are getting fields ready for the return of Major League Baseball. The Colorado Rockies are on the road until their home season opener April 10, so until then we are dreaming of warm days at Coors Field. That’s what Amy Jo Ellis of Morrison, winner of The Denver Post $25 Haiku Contest, was doing when she wrote about “baseball”:
Green, freshly mown grass
bright chalk lines, hot sun beaming
bats cracking, balls soar
