Getting your player ready...

The University of Denver kicked three players off its men’s lacrosse team, coach Jamie Munro said Tuesday.

Senior Brad Richardson, junior Ilija Gajic and sophomore Jamie Lincoln were dismissed from the team after “violations of team policies.” Because of student confidentiality, schools are often not allowed to specify why players are released.

Gajic is the younger brother of Colorado Mammoth player Nenad Gajic and the older brother of DU freshman forward Alex Gajic.

Buffs, Tolan finish second.

University of Colorado senior Derek Tolan fired a final-round, 3-under-par 67 to finish in second place at the 63rd Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Tolan finished at 3-over 213, tied with Jack Newman of Michigan State in second place. Oregon State’s Diego Velasquez earned medalist honors at 210. Colorado’s Patrick Grady tied for sixth at 215.

CU finished second in the team standings behind Oregon. Denver was seventh, Wyoming 15th.

Jayhawks clip UNC in ninth.

The Northern Colorado baseball team took a two-run lead into the bottom of the ninth inning, but Kansas’ Nick Faunce hit a two-run, game-ending home run to give the Jayhawks an 8-6 victory over the visiting Bears in Lawrence. UNC senior Kevin Sandberg tied the school record with his 47th double, matching Chris Kirgan (1992-94).
