DENVER—Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. is testing a new menu with cheaper options and a kids menu in its Denver-area restaurants.
The chain known for its hefty, foil-wrapped burritos said that beginning Wednesday in the Denver area, it is rolling out smaller-sized, lower-priced options, with items like a single taco for $2.25, soup starting at $2.99 and a side salad starting at $2.95.
The new kids menu has items like a quesadilla with a drink for less than $4.
The new menu also adds four featured entrees that are around $6 apiece.
Chipotle’s sales grew last year, partly due to higher menu prices and new restaurants, but executives said in February that consumer spending amid economic uncertainty could affect sales this year.
