The switch to digital television (DTV) is just around the corner, and if you have questions regarding your converter box or digital television you have a chance to get them answered.

The Federal Communications Commission and AmeriCorps have teamed up to make the switch to DTV easier for many people. They are especially hoping to help low-income families, senior citizens, non-English speaking people and people with disabilities.

They will start with a DTV walk-in help center today at Aurora’s main library at 14949 East Alameda Parkway from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can even bring in your converter box or small television.

The switch to DTV for KUSA Channel 9 will be April 16, and for the rest of the nation the date is set for June 12.

There have also been a lot of questions regarding KUSA’s decision to switch earlier than the rest of the nation.

“Right now KUSA is broadcasting in digital low-power and we are not able to reach the entire community,” Mark Cornetta, the general manager of KUSA, said.

According to Cornetta, the community is largely ready for digital television, and the only way to switch to full-power digital television is to turn off the analog signal on Channel 9.
