The man who died in a fire at the Broadway Motel Wednesday night had no obvious signs of trauma on his body, Denver police said this morning.

Sonny Jackson, spokesman for the Denver police department, said that police are investigating the death.

But he said much of the investigation is dependent on the findings of a coroner’s autopsy and a determination by the coroner on the cause of death.

Authorities said the 50-year-old victim checked into the motel with two other men. Jackson said that at this point there is nothing to show the men were involved.

They were not injured.

Phil Champagne, spokesman for the Denver fire department, said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

He said the fire was very hot and firefighters did a commendable job keeping the blaze isolated to one motel unit.

He said the alarm came in about 6:40 p.m. and was out within about 10 minutes.
