Last weekend’s snow brought with it the newest member of the Denver Zoo’s giraffe family.
A 6-foot-2, 165-pound baby named Blizzard was born on March 27.
Blizzard brings the zoo’s giraffe herd to seven, including a 6-month-old giraffe named Timber and a 6-week-old calf named Pongo.
Blizzard’s mother is Kipele, and his father is Dikembe.
Zoo officials said Blizzard is very energetic and is already running laps around his older siblings in the giraffe yard.
Giraffes are born after a 15-month gestation period. Blizzard will double his height in the first two years of his life.
