A videotape recorded a Denver police officer slamming a man’s face into the ground during an arrest, and now the man who was punched and kicked is suing the officers involved and the Denver Police Department.
The civil-rights lawsuit filed Friday claims police assaulted John Heaney during a false arrest and that the Police Department failed to properly train and supervise its officers.
The arrest was caught on videotape by a professional photojournalist April 4, 2008. The video shows officers repeatedly hitting and kicking Heaney near Coors Field.
The officers claim Heaney swore at them and punched one of them. Deborah Sherman, 9News
