BROOMFIELD — Former Rocky Flats nuclear-weapons-plant workers met with Sen. Mark Udall on Monday to discuss a bill Udall introduced in the U.S. Senate that would make it easier for workers and their families to seek compensation for illnesses contracted through exposure to radiation and poisons at the plant.
About a dozen workers and family members gathered outside the Broomfield airport, about 5 miles from the site of the old plant.
Udall, a Democrat, says current law makes it hard for workers and their families to win court cases and receive compensation for medical bills and other losses. He says the bill he introduced last week will shift the burden of proof from victims to the federal government.
