BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder man who killed his wife and then himself last week sent a chilling text message to his parents moments before the crime, saying his wife was trying to kill him.
According to 911 tapes released Wednesday, 39-year-old Robert Oakley sent the message to his parents before shooting and killing his ex-wife, Katelin Oakley. Authorities say Robert Oakley then killed himself.
The 911 tapes included a call from Robert Oakley’s father to Boulder police. Godfrey Oakley told police that the text said, “She’s trying to kill me.”
The Daily Camera reports that detectives have seized computers and phones from the dead couple for more investigation.
