Getting your player ready...

Keep your umbrellas and rain gear handy today because forecasters predict a high of only 51 degrees and a 60 percent chance of showers that will begin around noon Easter Sunday. Winds could reach up to 24 mph.

9News meteorologist Marty Coniglio said there might be a little drizzle around Red Rocks for Easter sunrise services. Temperatures will be in the low 30s when the sun rises at 6:27 a.m., but overcast skies may hide the rising sun.

Coniglio said the afternoon and evening hours give the Denver area the best chance for widespread rain and even a few wet snowflakes. He also said the best chance for snow will be at 6,000 feet and above late this afternoon into the evening. The best chance for accumulating snow will be at 6,500 feet and higher.

For the foothills, 3 to 6 inches of new snow is possible by late tonight, while Monument Hill might get 4 to 8 inches before skies clear early Monday morning. Temperatures should be mild enough that roads stay wet rather than snowpacked or icy.
