GRAND JUNCTION — Firefighters say a man who started a fire that prompted an evacuation order for about 20 homes has been cited with a misdemeanor.
It isn’t clear whether the fire March 18 was started intentionally to burn off brush or was started by a spark from a chain saw, but Fire Department spokesman Mike Page said the man did not have a permit for burning items. His name wasn’t released.
The fast-moving wildfire jumped Colorado 340 and burned about 40 acres. No homes were burned.
