A 70-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation in a fire at her Wheat Ridge home.
The fire broke out at about 9:25 p.m. Sunday at 4000 Independence Court, said Doug Saba, Fire Marshal with the Wheat Ridge Fire Department.
Firefighters were able to quickly put out the blaze and limit it mostly to one bedroom, where it started, Saba said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but preliminary indications are that it was sparked by smoking in close proximity to an oxygen tank, Saba said.
Residents of the home were safe outside when firefighters arrived. The woman, who suffered smoke inhalation, was held overnight at the hospital as a precautionary measure and released.
