LINCOLN, Neb.—One of Nebraska’s backup quarterbacks has suffered a knee injury and will miss Saturday’s spring game because of surgery.
A Nebraska spokesman confirmed Tuesday that redshirt freshman Kody Spano hurt his knee during practice on Monday and will have surgery.
That leaves junior Zac Lee as the presumptive starter at quarterback because of his two years experience. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are true freshman Cody Green and converted linebacker Latravis Washington.
Nebraska is working to replace senior Joe Ganz who was MVP of the Gator Bowl.
