DENVER—The Arapahoe County district attorney’s office says it’s dropping a murder charge against a man accused of killing a Littleton storekeeper.
Forty-eight-year-old Gregory Parker was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Rhonda Holland, who had her throat slashed by an intruder on Jan. 17, 2004, in the Season’s Givings Gift Shoppe.
Authorities say the charge will be dismissed at Parker’s next hearing in May.
DA spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said a conviction was unlikely because of the “state of the evidence” in the case. She said she couldn’t discuss specifics because it’s possible that charges could be refiled later.
Parker is serving a 60-year prison sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder in 2005 in the death of his wife. He has maintained his innocence in Holland’s death.
