GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a Florida man believed to have cheated a homeowner out of $20,000 in a roofing scam.

Authorities say 40-year-old Christopher Robert Dumas offered a foam and sealant treatment on the victim’s roof that took only about 15 minutes to apply. Investigators say the substance applied to the roof is probably fabricated to give only the appearance of such a treatment.

Sheriff’s officials fear Dumas may have targeted other area residents as well, and may use threats or intimidation to get victims to pay a large amount for the treatment.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Dumas’ hometown was not immediately available.
