Vacation in Denver.
That is the expected message from Mayor John Hickenlooper in an effort to stimulate the city’s tourism economy.
The mayor will hold a news conference this afternoon to discuss the tourism stimulus. The program is aimed at encouraging more people from the Rocky Mountain Region to vacation in the Mile High City. It is being sponsored by the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The stimulus will offer “more than 100 discount packages for theatre, symphony and opera tickets, sporting events, museums, theme parks, restaurants, shopping, art galleries, music festivals and more, all at the mile high price of $52.80,” a news release stated.
The advertising campaign will feature billboards, print ads, Web banners and newspaper supplements to spread the word. Hickenlooper is expected to give details about the program, including how long it will run, at the news conference.
