Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella acknowledged ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich sent him a lineup suggestion in a 2007 letter. “I’ve talked to him, baseball-wise,” Piniella said. “He’s a big Cubs fan. Obviously we didn’t heed his advice.” On the bottom of a letter containing a Chicago Sun-Times cartoon comparing Piniella and Blagojevich, the former governor included a P.S. that read: “Have you thought about hitting Soriano third, Lee fourth and Ramirez fifth?” Indicted on political corruption charges April 2, Blagojevich might want to consider bumping Ramirez and taking the fifth himself.
