Getting your player ready...

Height: 5-feet-11.

Weight: 135 pounds.

Age: 17. Born: Aug. 2, 1991, in Fort Morgan.

High school sports: Football (2008 Class 2A all-state honorable mention by The Denver Post, quarterback and strong safety) and baseball (3A all-state honorable mention, pitcher and shortstop).

Grade-point average: 3.3.

Class: Senior.

My favorite subject: History.

My favorite athlete: Troy Tulowitzki.

My favorite team: Rockies.

What I listen to: Hip-hop and rap, and a little rock.

The best things on my training table: Steak and potatoes.

Pregame ritual: I throw with the same teammate and hang out before the game.

Time management tip: My school helps me with exempt hours and that’s when I do some homework. I just go to school, practice, eat, then cram my homework.

Planned career: Considering business management; signed to play baseball at Lamar Community College.

My family: Parents Arnoldo and Veronica Maltos, brothers Arnoldo and Alejandro Maltos-Garcia.

I would love to visit: South America.

What I like most about high school sports: Just the fact that they’re there, you do them because you want to do them, nobody pays you. You do it for fun, no politics or anything.

What I like least about high school sports: To be honest, I’d like to live in Texas to play baseball year-round. You live in Colorado and only get to play during the summer and spring.
