LONDON — Though physicist Stephen Hawking was hospitalized Monday for a chest infection, his family “is looking forward” to a full recovery, Cambridge University said Tuesday. The statement didn’t indicate his condition, and the hospital declined to comment.
Hawking, 67, gained renown for his work on black holes and has remained active despite being diagnosed at age 21 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He has been almost entirely paralyzed for years and communicates through an electronic voice synthesizer activated by his fingers. The Associated Press
