SIDNEY, Neb.—A 10-mile stretch of Interstate 80 in western Nebraska has reopened after a fiery crash that killed one person.
East- and westbound traffic was detoured off of I-80 in the Sidney area following the crash, which was reported about 11:30 a.m. MDT Thursday. The interstate reopened about 7 p.m.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the driver of a westbound pickup pulling a camper lost control when a tire blew and collided with an oncoming tanker hauling a flammable liquid. The tanker struck a semitrailer and caught fire.
The patrol says the driver of the pickup—a 56-year-old man from Indiana—was killed. His name has not been released.
Two others were hurt in the crash, but they were released after treatment at a local hospital.
