PUEBLO, Colo.—A teenage girl is dead and three other people have been taken to a hospital after a one-vehicle crash in southeast Colorado.
The Colorado State Patrol says a 16-year-old girl was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile van eastbound along Colorado 96 near Boone when the van went off the right side of the road, struck a pole and hit a bridge embankment at about 6:20 p.m. Sunday. The van then came to rest in an irrigation ditch.
The girl was airlifted to a Pueblo hospital, where she died. Three other people, including a 3-year-old boy, were taken to hospitals with undisclosed injuries.
The boy was in a safety seat. It’s unclear if the others were wearing seat belts.
No names have been released.
Boone is 20 miles east of Pueblo and 110 miles southeast of Denver.
