Colorado cyclists will be able to ride two abreast after all.
The bicycle crowd nearly lost the privilege in debate over a bill to make cycling safer by requiring minimum passing distances for cars.
Rep. Randy Baumgardner, R-Hot Sulphur Springs, got an amendment passed requiring cyclists to stay single file in many situations.
But a conference committee agreed to allow cyclists to ride two abreast unless they are impeding traffic.
Other portions of the Senate Bill 148 require drivers to leave a 3-foot cushion between their cars and bicyclists, among other provisions.
