DENVER—Infielder Jeff Baker has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Colorado Rockies because of a sprained left wrist.
A club spokesman said Wednesday that Baker tried to play through the injury. It wasn’t immediately clear when or how he got hurt. Baker was hitting .130 and last played Sunday, driving in his first runs of the season with a bases-loaded triple against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Rockies filled the roster spot by recalling Matt Murton from Triple-A Colorado Springs, where the outfielder was batting .411 with four homers and 19 RBIs.
Murton was in uniform for Wednesday’s game against the San Diego Padres. He last played in the majors July 26 against the Texas Rangers while with the Oakland Athletics.
Baker will be eligible to come off the disabled list May 12 against the Houston Astros.
