Ladies who need an excuse to don a wide-brimmed picture hat or a flower-bedecked bonnet have it with the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ Women with Hattitude luncheon. The fourth annual luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, in the Seawell Ballroom. The event features a sneak peek at the upcoming production of “Quilters” and a parade of hats. Tickets are $45 per person and a portion of the proceeds benefits Women’s Voices Fund activities at the Denver Center Theatre Company. 303-446-4815 or

If you’re in need of a new hat for the luncheon or Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, check out the selection at Go Go Chapeaux in Cherry Creek North. Designer Erin Saboe said she learned to love hats while living in her husband’s home state of Kentucky. Saboe, who sews all ribbon and trims by hand in her boutique, has been making hats for 10 years. Go Go Chapeaux, 290 Columbine St., 303-377-3555.

What’s the likelihood that two local companies would end up with almost the same name? Belletare is a new natural skin-care products company, while Beneterre makes eco-chic shopping totes. Here’s a little about each of them.

The Belletare brand, created by Kim Nolan, is a natural skin-care line with products for cleansing, revitalizing and protecting skin. A bath and shower gel, a sugar body scrub and body lotion with such ingredients as pomegranate and aloe vera are the first three products in the line, which features natural and certified organic ingredients and recyclable, reusable packaging. Most of the products are available in either a spicy or floral scent. Prices start at $3 for travel sizes and go up to about $45. More at

Most of us have a decent pair of shoes that we haven’t worn more than a few times because they don’t fit right or the occasion never arose for them. Instead of letting them gather dust in your closet, donate them between now and June 30 to Donate Your Sole, a fundraiser annually organized by businesswoman Jill Burbary. The organization supports the homeless in Colorado. This year, Burbary is collecting shoes for men, women and children; new travel-size toiletries; toothpaste, shampoo, lip balm, makeup, lotion; cosmetic bags; and cash donations. Items will be given to Senior Support Services in Denver, Denver Rescue Mission and the Samaritan House in Denver. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at 5090 S. Clinton Street, Greenwood Village, CO 80111.
