LINCOLN, Neb.—The Gator Bowl champion ring of a Nebraska football player is missing, and now police are involved.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln police say a box of the rings had recently arrived at the university and was left in a second-floor office at Memorial Stadium on Monday.

Police Capt. Carl Oestmann says one of the rings was discovered missing the next morning.

Oestmann says the ring is valued at about $200 and has a large “N,” along with the words “Gator Bowl” and “Champions” on the front of the ring.

The player’s name is also on the side of the ring, but police have declined to say which player the ring belongs to.
