Ah, spring is in the air. It makes us want to throw open the windows, get out the broom and clean house.
What if we could also sweep away those outdated ideas and traditions that just don’t make sense anymore?
The Washington Post recently asked some writers to comment on what they would like to toss out with the rest of their spring cleaning. We asked a few local analysts to chime in.
In today’s Perspective are some of their wishes: drop the vice presidency, dump TABOR, gut light rail and eliminate nine-month school schedules. (We also want to outlaw tongue peircings, the phrase “when it’s all said and done,” photo radar and e-mail spam.)
What would you like to toss along with the dust motes of winter? Let us know at openforum@denverpost.com (put “spring cleaning” in the subject line) and we’ll publish some suggestions in next week’s Perspective.
