Cool, cloudy, wet weather is on tap for a wide portion of Colorado through the weekend, with a chance of rain on the plains and a rain and snow mix in the mountains.
No significant amount of rain, or snow in the high country, is expected, but Denver stands a 70 percent chance of rain Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Today in Denver, cloudy skies will bring a 40 percent chance of rain as the high temperature climbs to about 54 degrees, the weather service reports. The overnight low in Denver will be about 35 degrees, and the chance of rain will be 60 percent.
Rain is likely in Denver on Saturday, with a high temperature near 53 degrees, the weather service said.
In the mountains, snow is expected tomorrow at higher elevations, with accumulations of several inches above 9,500 feet through Saturday night. A chance of showers will persist in the mountains through Tuesday.
The chance for wet weather in Denver will slip to 40 percent on Sunday and then to 20 percent Monday.
After high temps top out in the 50s over the weekend, Denver highs will climb into the 60s beginning Monday and continuing Tuesday as the weather dries out a bit.
