Team Garmin-Slipstream has signed Australia’s Under-23 road race and time trial champion and formed a partnership with Cycling Australia to develop young riders.
Jack Bobridge, 19, is also a star on the track, having won silver medals in the individual pursuit and team pursuit at the Track World Championships in March. Matt White, a former pro cyclist from Australia and director of Boulder-based Team Garmin-Slipstream, will become Bobridge’s mentor.
“Jack is a phenomenal talent — possibly the most talented rider of his generation,” Gar-min-Slipstream director Jon-athan Vaughters said in a statement. “He excels on the road and on the track and makes an outstanding addition to our roster. We are thrilled that he decided to join Team Garmin-Slipstream.”
Bobridge will join the team later this year.
“I chose Team Garmin-Slipstream because I believe in its mission of helping young riders reach their full potential,” Bobridge said. “I know that I will continue to grow as a part of this team — on the track and on the road.”
The partnership with Cycling Australia is a natural for Garmin-Slipstream. Earlier this year, it signed Cameron Meyer, Australia’s reigning points race world champ-ion.
