Lakewood’s Belmar shopping district turns 5 this month and is throwing a birthday party May 15-17.
The “Here Comes the Sun, Sidewalk Sale and Celebration” includes a clothing drive to benefit the Boy Scouts, sidewalk chalk artists, chef demonstrations and giveaways.
Belmar, at Wadsworth Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue, took the place of the former Villa Italia Mall, which at its peak in 1994 generated $3.12 million in sales tax.
