DENVER—The University of Colorado has named Phil DiStefano chancellor of its Boulder campus.
DiStefano had been serving as interim chancellor and had been named the sole finalist for the job two weeks ago. The 62-year-old replaces G.P. “Bud” Peterson, who left to become president of Georgia Tech.
A CU search committee began looking for an internal candidate in March. CU System President Bruce Benson announced DiStefano’s appointment Tuesday.
DiStefano has worked at CU for 35 years as a professor of education, associate dean, dean, vice chancellor and provost.
About 54,000 students attend CU at its four campuses statewide—the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora and the Boulder campus.
