STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—The former executive director of Routt County Habitat for Humanity has been sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to pay $75,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to embezzling from the organization.
Judge Shelley Hill also ordered Rochelle Flannery to complete 100 hours of community service, serve 10 years of probation and pay fines and court costs.
Flannery pleaded guilty to criminal attempt to commit theft greater than $20,000, a felony. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to dismiss another felony charge.
Prosecutors say Flannery committed the thefts by depositing checks intended for vendors into her personal bank accounts and by stealing gift cards intended for use as a fundraiser for the organization.
