O, snap.
After seeing their alternative rock single “Don’t Trust Me” take off at Top 40 radio, Boulder-based electro duo watched the song go platinum this week with sales topping 1.1 million, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
The official word came this morning from Atlantic Records, the label that has helped partner Photo Finish Records push 3OH!3’s full-length “Want” to radio and press. The single (hear it ) currently sits at the No. 9 position on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and the No. 1 position on iTunes Hot Alternative Songs chart, and it’s still trending upward — with more and more radio adds announced weekly.
When The Denver Post talked in early-February with Matt Galle, the CEO of Photo Finish Records, “Don’t Trust Me” had just passed the 500,000 mark.
“We’re focusing more on international now,” Galle said at the time. “We want to break the band worldwide, and the numbers so far are good in Australia, Germany, Denmark and the U.K.”
The band, made up of Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte, is currently headlining the AP Tour — the Reverb photo above was taken at the AP Tour’s stop in Boulder a little while ago. When they’re done with that, they’ll be co-headlining the Vans Warped Tour — skipping the tour’s Aug. 9 Denver date at the Invesco Field at Mile High parking lot in favor of a big slot at the Mile High Music Festival in Commerce City on July 19.
